In April, NHTSA finalized a standard that requires pedestrian automatic emergency braking (AEB) on all passenger cars and light trucks by September 2029. A McKinsey study forecasts that Level 4 autonomous driving systems for passenger cars could generate $170 billion to $230 billion in revenue by 2035. Progress has been slow.
