In December 2020, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) requested comments on the development of a framework for Automated Driving System safety. In April, NHTSA finalized a standard that requires pedestrian automatic emergency braking (AEB) on all passenger cars and light trucks by September 2029.
